Three players total, with official confirmation of cross-platform play.

The short answer

Deep Dish Dungeon supports up to 3 players total: you and two friends. Xbox Wire explicitly confirms crossplay between Steam and Xbox, including a Game Pass player joining friends on Steam.

What is officially supported?

The October 13 launch coverage lists solo play and online multiplayer for up to three. The developer’s Xbox Wire interview confirms Steam–Xbox crossplay. An older reveal’s different player count should not override the launch information.

If a friend cannot join

These are basic diagnostic checks, not a guaranteed fix for a known server fault:

  1. Make sure everyone has updated the same edition of the game. Do not mix Demo and full-release sessions.
  2. Check that the host is still online and the lobby has room for a third player.
  3. Retry an invitation after restarting the game on both sides.
  4. Record the exact error, platform and game version before asking for help.

Where to report a persistent problem

Use the official Behold Studios community linked below. Include whether the failed connection is Steam-to-Steam or Steam-to-Xbox; that distinction matters more than simply saying “multiplayer is broken.”
